Urgent Message

Sankofa is a Ghanaian term that comes from the Akan tribe. “to go back and get it." is the literal translation of the word and symbol. SAN (return), K.O. (go), F.A. (look, seek and take). The egg in its mouth depicts the "gems" or past knowledge that wisdom is based on, as well as the future generation that will benefit from that wisdom. There are various interpretations that overlap: Taking what is good from the past and applying it to the present in order to make positive growth through the wise use of knowledge. Ubuntu is a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity.
